Five For Friday on Saturday

Aloha  everyone!  What a quick week this has been.  I think every week should only be four days! Four days has left me with some energy, so I am linking up with Doodle Bugs Teaching for her Five For Friday linky.

Since it was only a 4 day week we didn't start a whole lot of new things, but we finished up some projects that we started last week.

We planted some bean seeds a few weeks ago.  This is what they looked like last Friday.

This is what they looked like on Tuesday morning.  It was perfect to talk with the kids about photosynthesis and  why our plants were so yellow looking.

Here is what they looked like on yesterday afternoon.  The kids were so excited to see the changes.

Did you know that Netflix streaming now has episodes of The Magic School Bus?

I love that I can use my Netflix in the classroom.  We watched Season 3 Episode 11- The Magic School Bus Gets Planted.  It was perfect to review and tie in all that we have been learning.

Last week we also began a Sunflower art project.   I showed the kids some Van Gogh sunflowers for inspiration.  We talked about his style and then we looked at lots of different artist work and their renditions of sunflowers.  We also talked about the bright, colorful vases that we saw in many of the pictures.

Then we started our project.  They colored and painted coffee filters.  Each flower needs 3 coffee filters so all together they had 6 to decorate.

This week we cut them out and layered the 3 filters on to make the flower.

Then they drew a colorful vase, leaves and stems.

I just love the way these turned out!

Next week we start the lifecycle of a butterfly. I have another fun project for that!  Don't forget to make sure you are entered in my giveaway for a sharpener. It ends on Sunday night. Click {here} to take you to the post.

Thanks so much for stopping by and enjoy the rest of your weekend!
