Gifts For The New School Year

Aloha everyone!  I have been working diligently in my class all week and it is all set to go!  I will have my classroom reveal tomorrow!

This year we have had some changes at my grade level.  There were three of us before and we had been working together for a few years.  Well this summer one of the teachers I work with decided to move to the mainland.  Our numbers were also high so they added a new class.  We also have a new SPED teacher at our grade level to cover the high number of incoming students.

So this year we have 3 new people on our team.  All three of them are new to second grade and I wanted to welcome them to the grade level with a little Back To School Gift.

I know how overwhelming it can be at a new grade level and I wanted to let them know I am available to help them with whatever they need.  I knew they might have a hard time coming to me and asking for certain items so I decided to just put many of my TpT store items on a zip drive and give it to them.

I actually found some new and used zip drives in my desk.  I just cleared off the old info and added some products.  I used some bright washi tape and decorated this one for a little flair.

I also wanted to give them a little gift bag, but was unsure of what to put in it.  I went shopping after school on Thursday evening and the only store we have in our little town is Long's Drugs.

I hit the school supply isle and I spotted these.

They were only $1.50 and who doesn't love highlighters?  Well this was my inspiration.  I decided to put together a bag of fluorescent goodies.  It is so popular right now I didn't have any trouble finding items in the store.

Playdough for stress relief (couldn't find fluorescent stress balls)

I know these aren't fluorescent, but every care package should have chocolate!

I found some cute fluorescent bags in the card isle.  I liked the pink, but we have a male teacher on board now so I got him a green bag.  I got home and whipped up those tags to finish it off.  I tied them on with some bright yarn I had at school.

I handed them out at the end of the day on Friday and they loved them!  I thought they were simple and fun and a great way to start bonding with my new teammates.

If you would like a copy of the tags just click {HERE} to grab them in Google Docs.

Be sure to stop by tomorrow for pictures of my classroom.  Don't forget to check out this great Educents deal.  There is still time to grab this great bundle!

  3. What a fantastic idea! I was trying to think of something because my ENTIRE team of 5 is brand new this year and 3 of the 4 new teachers have never taught second grade before. I think a little gift (LOVE the flash drive idea) will help us build a little bit. Thanks so much!

  14. This is just what I have been looking for! My team will be different this year, too, so I wanted to kick off the year with a little gift. The Target dollar section has a TON of neon items right now, so your tags are perfect! Thank you!!

  15. What a thoughtful gift. It's so sweet that you gave them flash drives with some of your products on them. It sounds like you are the dream grade level partner; nice, willing to help, thoughtful, and empathetic to their new surroundings. This is the kind of thing I would love to do for my grade level partners (when I get some). Thanks for being such a great role model.
