July Currently

What!!! Another post! Monday made it and now July Currently!?  Can you believe it?

My summer is at a halfway mark!! I don't even know what I have been doing.  Mainly a whole lot of nothing, lol! Which is a good thing for me!

So the biggest item on my agenda is that I am headed to Vegas next week for the TpT/SDE conference!!  I cannot believe I will be meeting so many of my virtual friends. I'm a little nervous too!
But more about that on Wednesday!

So last week I took my daughters to the beach and wore a cute new bikini top that I bought at Target.

Well after a 6 hour beach day I was fried to a crisp and that cute looking suit became awful looking tan lines!!

Not exactly pretty for my strapless dresses I have for Vegas!!  So I am trying to hit the beach a little bit each day and even it all out.  So far it's not looking good!

The only thing that I really NEED to do this month is to clean my bedroom.  It's awful.  I have so much junk in there that I don't use, and I can't remember the last time I cleaned underneath my bed.

It may or may not get done before Vegas...

The 4th of July is not a huge event here in Hawaii. I don't think Hawaiians share the same enthusiasm as the rest of the country ;)

I am off to watch the finale of Season 8 of Dexter.  I can't believe I haven't seen it yet!  Go link up with Farley, I would love to see what you are up to!!

Monday Made It-Again

Aloha friends!  This is my first Monday Made It of the summer!  I haven't been super productive this summer with anything classroom related, but I have been updating a few items!

Last summer I made myself a planner and had no intention of posting it on TpT.

Well let me tell you, everyone went crazy for this little planner of mine!!  I had people emailing and commenting that they wanted an editable version.  So I made one and it has been one of the top selling items in my shop!!  Who knew?

Well this summer I have added to my planner collection.  I have made several new planners!

Tempting Teal

Modern Floral

Nautical Fun

and of course

Tropical Beach

I thought it would be a fun idea to make planners for my co-workers on my grade level.  I asked them to pick what they wanted.

The first person I asked wanted my Cool Colors planner, lol!  So that's what I made this week.  I added a few things to make it more personable.

I put her name on the cover and laminated it.

I also added a Daily Schedule to the front.

Class information

And Year at a glance pages. You can see my printer does a weird space thing when I print double sided.  I am pretty sure she won't mind :)

The rest is the same as before

Standards for SS and Science

Planner Pages

 Different colors for each quarter.

A grade book

and finally a calendar.

I added some inspirational quotes in there for her as well.

All I need to do now is get it bound and give it to her when we go back at the end of July.

All of these planners are available in my TpT shop, just click on the pictures to take you there.

BUT for ONE WEEK you can grab the updated version of my Cool Colors planner for FREE on my Facebook page!  Just click on the Freebie tab with the little starfish on my fan page and download it!

If you do grab it I would love it if you left me a comment on my fan page!  Mahalo!

I am off to see what everyone else is working on!

Workin' It Wednesday- Finding Inspiration

Aloha my fit friends!  I am so happy you stopped by for another edition of Workin' It Wednesday.

How is your summer fitness coming along?  I think we constantly have our ups and downs in our fitness routines.  It never hurts to have a little inspiration or a goal for why you are changing things up.

I think my main motivation is the fact that I practically live in a bathing suit!  I am always at the beach with friends or family.

I also look at old pictures for inspiration!  This one is from 2010.  I cannot believe how much my daughters and my body has changed in 4 years!!!

I think my biggest motivation are these girls.  I want to see them grow up happy and healthy, so I need to lead by example.  They are headed into their teen years and I need to keep up with them.  Right now they have a hard time keeping up with me!!

Inspiration and motivation can come from lots of places.
I have a Pinterest board with fun and motivational pins.

Some great apps that I use to help keep me motivated:

You can track your meals and workouts, plus connect with friends to keep motivated.

I have really enjoyed my runs this summer and this app tracks how far I have gone, how many calories I burn and keeps track of my monthly workouts on Facebook.

Here is a great list of the Top 25 Apps from PC Magazine to get you going.

I have been doing great with my workouts and I can already see a difference in my legs since I have started using weights!  I went out surfing today and didn't put on board shorts over my bikini bottoms!

I think the biggest motivation is seeing results!!

It's your turn to share how your summer fitness is coming along.  Link up below or share out on Instagram!

Workin' It Wednesday- Clean Eating

Aloha everyone!  It's time to show how we have been workin' it this week!

Last week I told you how my fitness has really been effected by my poor food choices.  Have you ever heard the term skinny fat?  I am pretty sure that is me.

In my 20's I always struggled with my weight even though I worked out quite a bit.  I am of the hispanic persuasion and had lots of curves.  Even when I worked out I hovered around the same size and weight.
Then I had kids.  I thought for sure my weight would increase.  That's what everyone tells you.  Well I had the opposite occur.  I went from 130 in 2002 to around 112 in 2004.

What did I do differently?  Well I had two small children I was chasing around constantly, but I have to tell you breast feeding cleaned me out!  Seriously I think every ounce of extra fat I had in me was sucked out by my youngest daughter.  She was always hungry and I was teaching full time.  It definitely whittled me down.  I was also so busy with babies and work that something had to give.   What gave was that I stopped eating.

I didn't do it purposely I just focused all my time on making sure my kids were healthy and happy and I slowly just cut down on eating because I was so busy.  My body adjusted to just eating a few bites here and there to fit everything in and it just became habit.  I shrunk down from a size 8 to a 2.

Well 10 years later I am still the same size, but not eating nearly as healthy as I was even a year ago. (The picture above is from last summer)

Now that my daughters are 10 and 12, I am running them all over the place, still working full time, working on TpT items and now I am a Jamberry consultant!  Whaaaat?  I know I am crazy, but what's worse is that I am grabbing food at 7-11, McDonalds and Starbucks.  I am always out and about and not taking the time to cook ahead and bring snacks with me.  I still only eat a small amount, but it is a small amount of junk and my body is not looking fit.

So here it is summer time and I am taking back my health.  No more skinny fat person here!!  I need to overhaul my diet and get my body back into clean eating.

I found this great freebie from Rowdy In Room 300 to help me plan my meals.

Can I tell you how helpful it is for me to have this hanging on the refrigerator.  Everyone can see what is for dinner and I can shop accordingly.

I have been stalking this site ----------> Clean Eating  They have so many wonderful recipes that I know I can make with planning.  This one looks so good and I can't wait to try it.

It's a Green Goddess Pasta Salad with Chicken.  The ingredients look delicious.

Another thing I have changed up is my breakfasts.  I love my breads.  Bagels with cream cheese, or toast and honey are my go to favorites.  I am cutting that down to once a week and am now having a smoothie each morning.

This is 1 cup of coconut milk, half an avocado, half a banana and half a cup of berries.  I will be experimenting each week with local fruits.  I just traded a huge bunch of bananas for a load of avocados that came off of my tree.

I should also be adding a little protein to my smoothies, but I'm not really sure what would be good for me.  I need to do a bit more research, but I want to try this brand out as a supplement.

I have to consciously think about my food choices, but I also have to make sure I eat them!!!  I am typing this post right now and am realizing I haven't eaten anything since 7 am.  It is now 1 pm. ( smh)

It's hard to teach an old dog new tricks, but I'm trying and that is the first step!
