So I am having my First Linky.
I have gone back and forth and finally decided on a simple bright Tropical Theme for my class.
It started with my Common Core Posters. I just fell in love with the colors and they made me happy looking at them...if Common Core can make you happy, lol!
Then I made a Clip Chart to go with it and it just snowballed from there.
The past few days I made some background papers to go with my theme and created some desktags, classroom labels, a word wall and a banner to use in the class.
I bought some cute plastic buckets that I will use on my table to hold glue, pencils and crayons.
My book bags reflect the colors I will be using and I plan to add little touches everywhere to make it bright and fun.
It was easy to do since I live here and it just reflects what we are surrounded by.
I would LOVE to see what everyone else is planning to do for their theme or just some items you plan to use in your classroom. Maybe your ideas will inspire others!!
Please link up below and share your Classroom Theme/Inspirations.
I can't wait to see all of your ideas!!
I'm from Australia. We don't really do class themes over here. I'd imagine some do. I wish we did! I LOVE the idea :)

I love all the colors you've chosen. So bright and colorful and fun! I've joined your linky party, it's my first, hope I did it right. I'm #12. I didn't think to put my blog title...duh. :)
ReplyDeleteWe LOVE this linky party. Kelly and I have had our themes, the ones we linked to, for the last 5 years (at least). We are both working this summer to keep our same theme (ocean for first grade and Harry Potter for fifth) but have been inspired by all the wonderful themes we have seen blog stalking to KICK IT UP A NOTCH! Already I have worked on clipboards, some shelf painting, redesigning a filing cabinet, and more.
ReplyDeleteThanks for hosting, we will be checking back on the party often to see how things are going!

Yay! Can't wait to see it!
DeleteI love your colours, so fresh and bright. I was at Michael's Crafts today and found some great buys...I love owls and although I am not planning a whole theme around that, I found some nameplates, tags and paper with owls, for a dollar !! My fav. thing I found, glittery, foamy letters with stripes to spell out DAILY FIVE. You have inspired me !!
ReplyDeleteI love finding deals like that! Aww, I am so glad to have inspired you:) I started blogging because of all of the wonderful ideas out there and I am so happy that I can contribute to such a great community!
DeleteI so want to know how everyone creates all of those borders and backgrounds, papers, borders, and such - like the ones you did for your Common Core posters, desktags, labels, etc? Is this something you can share? Is it a special program? Does it require an apple computer?
ReplyDeleteThanks for any help or guidance you can offer!

Thanks for hosting the linky party. Having a class theme can be fun but it can also be hard to come up with ideas. I linked up and now I'm ready to start checking out all the other theme posts.

Corinna, this is my first time to 'hop' through. Thanks so much for hosting the link-up..... I'm already getting traffic from your site! I'd LUV for you to link-back to my blog hop, something 'organizational' from your archives or something brand new would be welcome as well.

I'm a little late but I just added to the party! Love your bright buckets! I bet your room will look awesome! :)
ReplyDeleteI love the bright colors and you can never go wrong with a tropical theme :)
ReplyDeleteThis is a great idea for a link party and I wish I could share. But, I just changed my blog theme and need to coordinate everything. How did you make your adorable printables (banner, word wall, etc)? I have been wanting to try my hand at creating these and have been searching google for tutorials. Maybe I'm searching the wrong phrase. Do you have any suggestions or websites that would help me?

Love the polka dots in your tropical theme! I am going with polka dots this year. It will really be my first classroom theme. I did owls this past 5 months, as I started in February, but didn't have time mid-year to focus on getting it together much.
ReplyDeleteStop by http://ifyougiveateacheratreat.blogspot.com/ and check out my polka dots! Thanks for creating the linky party. This will be the first one that I have joined!
Thanks for hosting this! I just linked up and cannot wait to check out all of the blogs!! I am your newest follower! :)

Thank you for hosting the linky! I can't wait to see everyone's ideas! I love the idea of a surfing theme - especially the bright colors.
ReplyDeleteI found you via Extra Special Teaching, who linked up! I had to click over because my classroom has always been done in a beach theme! I usually have a bulletin board that says "Catch a Wave Into 2nd Grade" or "Surfing Into 2nd Grade" at the BOY. So we're sort of kindred spirits, lol! Love your bright colors, too. My room has lots of teal and lime green and other brights. I have a lot of plans to improve things for next year, but I'll see if I can find some pics to link up! Great linky party!
ReplyDelete-Gayla
I'm loving it!! Love the colors! :)
ReplyDeleteMan...I've missed so much while being gone...lol

ReplyDeleteThanks for hosting this. What a great idea!!!! I have to admit I am a bit jealous that you live in Hawaii. :) I checked out a lot of the blogs listed for some of the great themes listed. I hope you will come and check out my blog. I am just getting started.
ReplyDeleteThanks again,

Hi there! I just followed you and joined the linky party! Your blog is too darn cute!
ReplyDeleteOhh I love this linky party! My most favorite part of being a teacher is the decorating and setting up my classroom part! My theme used to be apples and primary colors. This year it will be safari with primary colors. I can't get in my classroom until August so I won't have new pictures until then but here are pictures of my classroom last year!
