Surfin' Through Second: Riddles

Aloha Friends!!

I hope you are off to a great summer vacation, and if you are still in the classroom I hope you are enjoying some fun end of the year activities.

I am home for the summer and enjoying some down time. However my internal alarm is still on!!

With some extra time on my hands I have been working on a few fun items.

I have been planning a monthly series of fun Riddle Review Sheets. I just finished a summer version.

Each page has a different skill and a riddle to decode. I created a similar pack at Christmas and have a freebie from March if you want to check them out.

I know how much my students love solving new riddles, so I really enjoyed putting this together.

If you just need a little something to use with your class these last few weeks or if your teaching summer school, this would be a great resource to have on hand.

I also created a Word Search that I used with my class and have uploaded it in my shop as a freebie.

It also includes another Ocean Themed Word Search and a challenge activity to go with it. Summer time and the ocean are two of my favorite things and I'm sure you will enjoy using them with your class!

Summertime is such an important time for us to recoup and gain back our teaching stamina for the fall. If you are already soaking up the sun, I hope you enjoy every minute!

Aloha friends! I went back to work this week for only two days, which is a good way to start out the New Year.

I had a little mishap when I opened my classroom door on Thursday. Apparently over the break we had some upgrades to the electrical system. The work crews came into our classrooms and moved everything out of the way to access the outlets. Well they decided not to put anything back!!

My classroom was a mess and looked like my first day back in the summer! I was so upset and in tears as I had 15 minutes before the kids came into the class!!

I called the office and they sent down the janitor to help me move my desk back into place. I was totally stressed out and to top it all off, I had a new student waiting at the door with her mother!

I finally just let the kids in and told them to read on the carpet while I cleaned up the mess. I ended up just shoving everything in the corner until the end of the day!! My kids were so good and just happy to see each other and talk about their vacation.

After the morning fiasco, things calmed down and we shared what we did over our vacations.

I brought the kids a little treat from Arizona and they were really excited about it!

We just finished learning about the desert and I told them I would bring something back for them.

I also brought this.

It has a little noise maker inside and it was so cute as I read it and showed it to the kids. They were wide eyed and totally fell for it. I had one of my cuties come up and open it. He jumped when it made the rattling sound and all the other kids rushed forward to make sure he was okay! They all got a good laugh when I explained what it was.

Since it is January and it is cold here I decided to do a fun little Wintery activity with my students. Since they love jokes so much and really enjoyed my Halloween Riddle activity I created one for Winter.

There is a center activity with lots of fun Snowman jokes, a book and a snowman craft.

We made our Snowmen on Friday and they turned out so cute!

I made a really cute bulletin board with all of their creations.

The kids loved them and they all wanted to take it home. The boys went crazy for the mustaches, but some of the girls didn't want a mustache. So I told them they could make a pink mustache.

I wished that I had some google eyes to make them even more silly, but I was all out.

These were really easy to make and I'm sure you could create your own pattern as well.
