Advent Fun

Aloha Monday and the first Day of December.  Just a few quick things to share with you today!

First up is something that I am starting in class today.  My Advent Jar!

I used an empty pickle jar and just added a pretty bow and a tag that says "Joy".  I filled it with these little "treats" for my class.

Each day of this month we will pick a "treat" and take 10 minutes at the end of each
day to have our treat.  I am pretty sure my class is going to LOVE it!

Happy Monday and have a wonderful week!!

Gearing Up For The Holidays

Aloha friends!  It is early Thanksgiving morning and I am up with the roosters enjoying some quiet time before this four day weekend starts rolling.  I just wanted to wish everyone a Happy Thanksgiving!

As everyone prepares for their big feast, I may or may not sneak a peak at the ocean to check the waves.  I don't have too much prep work for my salad and corn that I have to make for the dinner we have been invited to.

I know that many of you brave souls will be venturing out on Black Friday to snag up some amazing deals for Christmas.  I will not be joining in the shopping madness!  I dislike crowds very much and I am afraid of what I might do or say to crazy shopping people around me!

I am slowly filling up my shopping cart for Cyber Monday.  I am definitely an online shopper and I know there are going to be some great deals out there, especially on Amazon.  I don't plan on buying too many things, as we are traveling to Colorado this year for Christmas.

Teachers Pay Teachers will also be having a Cyber Monday and Tuesday Sale and I will be participating in the sale.  My store will be 20% off along with the extra 10% that TpT gives.

My word problem packs are some of my most popular items and they will all be on sale.  If you haven't picked up my December pack you should check it out.  I really like the problems in this one.  Some are pretty basic and there are some that are quite challenging.

I also have my Aloha Santa Math Centers.

Santa's On His Way Literacy Centers

Snowman Silliness Riddle Pack

Snowflake Digital Backgrounds

Icy Frames

I am working on a few more items, but I plan to spend this weekend just relaxing with my family.
I hope you have a fantastic and restful 4 days!!

December Math Centers

Aloha friends!  Can you believe it is already November 20th!!??  It snuck up so quickly.  I was starting to sweat about my Thanksgiving dinner.  If you know me then you know that cooking is just not my thing!!

Seriously this is no joke.  I have a whole Pinterest board named Mmmm, but I have never once made anything.

I toyed around with the idea of just having a really fancy meal, like a surf and turf dinner instead of the traditional dinner.  My oldest daughter looked like she was going to cry when I told her we weren't going to have turkey.  She even told all her friends at school that "We weren't celebrating Thanksgiving".  Apparently she got lots of invites to friend's homes.

What a horrible mother I am.

Luckily my neighbor came over yesterday and invited us to her house for dinner.  She loves to cook, and when I say loves it's really L-O-V-E-S!  Whew! What a relief, all I have to bring is salad!  I'm pretty sure I can do that, and my daughter is happy again.

In all this craziness of the holidays I have finished some fun math centers for my second graders.

Don't you just love those graphics?!  The wonderful Nikki over at Melonheadz made them special for me!

I just had to get right to work and make something fun.  I asked my wonderful Facebook fans what types of skills they would like to see in this pack and I had the same replies.  Addition and subtraction with regrouping, time, fluency and place value.  So here are five different centers.

My students can just write on the cards or use these numbers to physically manipulate the numbers.

A poster with steps to regrouping is also included.

Again students can write on the card with a dry erase marker to do their work.

Then they can check their work by finding the matching answer cards.

I also created a poster to go along with it to remind them of the steps.

I included worksheets as well to help review.

I think my students are going to really enjoy these centers!  If you love these as much as I do you can click {HERE} to purchase them in my TpT shop.

Now I am off the finish my nice warm cup of Chai Tea and relax after a long day.  As always I am so happy you stopped by!

December Currently

December 1st sure came fast didn't it!! Only 2 weeks until Vacation!!  We have some extra time due to furloughs this year.  The district calls them Directed Leave Without Pay-DLWP-I call them Dilwop days.  I guess if I am not getting paid for some days them I will enjoy a longer vacation!

Well with December 1st upon us  Farley from Oh, Boy It's 4th Grade has her December Currently up!!

I am so excited to go and see Wicked tonight!!  I bought tickets 6 months ago when I heard it was finally coming to Hawaii!! My oldest daughter and I are going on our own to have some bonding time.  She is a real fan of musicals and I think we will love it!!

Unlike many of you I have not done any shopping for Xmas. I am just not that much in the spirit yet because it is still pretty warm here.  Plus we are headed to Phoenix to see my mom, so I plan to do most of my shopping there.  I do need to get gifts for teacher's, parents and colleagues though.
Who has the link up for some great ideas??

I could really use a new pair of shoes besides slippers/flip-flops.  We are dressing up to go out tonight and I have nothing suitable for my dress:(  I have a few pairs of heels but they just don't go well. Guess I will have to improvise.

Random acts of kindness is a harder one for me, because honestly I'm a pretty nice person, and I try to help out others as much as possible.  I think most teacher's just do this naturally!!  But this year I am going to shock my neighbors with gifts, lol.  Every year the sweet little ladies in this neighborhood come by with huge trays of goodies they have baked!!  I am not kidding, I feel like a heel for never returning the goodies.  So this year I am hoping to return the goodies to those that I always receive from, plus some of our new neighbors down the street.  It will not be fancy, but I am excited to share:)  I also recently made a couple of buttons for giveaways for some bloggy friends and I was so happy to help them out with something I love to do:)

I hope December is finding you happy and excited for the holidays!!  Head on over to Farley's and link up!!
