Back To School Shopping

Aloha friends!!  I know you don't want to hear it, but yes for many of us it is Back To School time!

I have been avoiding the Back To School isles, but today I had to bite the bullet and go shopping for my daughters' school supplies.  I have one in 8th grade and another in 6th grade.  The schools provide grade level lists for all items that are needed.

So I headed to Walmart, which I knew would have everything I needed at the best price.  I got up early and was there by 7 a.m.

No one was there yet!! Ahhh, Back to School shopping in peace.

Is there anything more lovely than fresh pens, pencils and paper?

Colored pens weren't on the list, but these somehow ended up in my cart.

Did you know that you can get Bonus Box Tops on certain Back To School items?

Apparently everyone else does, because they were all gone!

I found everything I needed and was able to cross everything off the lists!

So happy to be done and not stress about having to go shopping last minute or over the weekend!!
My advice to busy teachers and moms is to head out early and just get it done!! It will save you time later, especially if they run out of something, which is why I ended up at so many different stores last year.
Now that's done I can concentrate on setting up my classroom and getting ready for my kiddos to return next Wednesday!  Wish me luck!

Monday Made It-Back To School

Aloha friends!  Can you believe my summer is officially over!!?  Yup I am back in my class and setting up for a new school year.  The students report on July 29th, but I have a meet and greet this Friday!

Honestly I am not prepared at all.  Our summer was only 7 weeks and I literally played all summer!!!

Last week I was lucky enough to be in Vegas with thousands of other teachers for the SDE conferences!!  I was there all week and attended a day of I Teach 2nd.  I promise to share what I learned soon!

I also attended the TpT conference and met so many amazing teachers from across the globe, but can I say I was so honored when Tara recognized me and approached me in Vegas!!!

I am such a huge fan of hers and I love linking up as much as possible for her Monday Made It linky!!  She was such a sweetheart and it was so exciting to meet one of my favorite bloggers!!

So here it is Monday and my Monday Made It projects for this week!

If you have followed my blog for awhile you may remember this lovely desk!

I gave it a makeover a few years ago with my tropical themed classroom.

This year I am going with a Super Hero theme and needed to figure out what to do with it this time.

Well I hit Home Depot and picked up some primer and Chalkboard paint.

Oh my gosh, what a huge difference this made!!  I plan to use it as a center area now. The kids can write on it or use magnets for different activities.

I also put together my new clip chart.

My phone does not take the best pictures under fluorescent lighting,
but the colors are really fun and bright!

I am still working on my other Super Hero Decor
and hope to have it all finished by Friday.
Wish me luck!!!

Make sure you go check out all the other
fun projects over at 4th Grade Frolics!!

A Year of Wonders

Aloha friends!  Summer is flying by for me.  I cannot believe it is already July!!  I had a list a mile long of things I needed to do and I have barely made a dent.  However, I have been enjoying myself a great deal, swimming, working out, catching up with friends and binge watching lots of Netflix!!

One thing that I can cross off my list is finishing up my Grammar Centers for the Reading Wonders series.  Actually all of my Wonders products are complete now!!!

Each of these units covers the grammar skills that are covered in the Wonders units.  They are great for Daily 5 word work rotations or small group activities.  Each unit comes with activities that cover a skill and a practice sheet for reinforcement.  Much more engaging than a workbook! Each also has a color and black and white version to make printing easier and more affordable.

I also have Morning Work for each unit.  These include practice for grammar, spelling and vocabulary for each unit.  The skills begin simple and spiral through the year.  My kids did so well with this format this year!

Finally, I have Spelling Lists for each of the units that include printable lists for On-Level, Above Level and Approaching, vocabulary words and definitions, high-frequency words and sentences for spelling dictation.

Spelling Unit 1 is free in my TpT shop to give you an idea of what's included in the other packs.  It does not include everything that I added to the other units.  I guess I should add that to my list ;)

Hope your summer is progressing well and that these resources will come in handy down the line.
