New Blog Design

Aloha friends!  If you are reading this then you are seeing my new blog design!!  What do you think?  I had the talented Megan from A Bird In Hand Designs create my new look.

It feels a bit more grown up and sophisticated.  I am still adjusting to feeling so mature!  If you are in need of a new design I would give her a shout!

I hope you had a wonderful weekend and are gearing up for the big Cyber Monday and Tuesday sale tomorrow!

I have a few things on my list and I plan on shopping after school on Monday.

What's on your shopping list?

Gearing Up For The Holidays

Aloha friends!  It is early Thanksgiving morning and I am up with the roosters enjoying some quiet time before this four day weekend starts rolling.  I just wanted to wish everyone a Happy Thanksgiving!

As everyone prepares for their big feast, I may or may not sneak a peak at the ocean to check the waves.  I don't have too much prep work for my salad and corn that I have to make for the dinner we have been invited to.

I know that many of you brave souls will be venturing out on Black Friday to snag up some amazing deals for Christmas.  I will not be joining in the shopping madness!  I dislike crowds very much and I am afraid of what I might do or say to crazy shopping people around me!

I am slowly filling up my shopping cart for Cyber Monday.  I am definitely an online shopper and I know there are going to be some great deals out there, especially on Amazon.  I don't plan on buying too many things, as we are traveling to Colorado this year for Christmas.

Teachers Pay Teachers will also be having a Cyber Monday and Tuesday Sale and I will be participating in the sale.  My store will be 20% off along with the extra 10% that TpT gives.

My word problem packs are some of my most popular items and they will all be on sale.  If you haven't picked up my December pack you should check it out.  I really like the problems in this one.  Some are pretty basic and there are some that are quite challenging.

I also have my Aloha Santa Math Centers.

Santa's On His Way Literacy Centers

Snowman Silliness Riddle Pack

Snowflake Digital Backgrounds

Icy Frames

I am working on a few more items, but I plan to spend this weekend just relaxing with my family.
I hope you have a fantastic and restful 4 days!!

Scribble Digital Papers

Aloha friends. Just a quick post to share some fun background papers that I just made.

I made some of these with black backgrounds for Halloween and then some fun red and green for my freebie Christmas pack.  I decided to make them in as many colors as I could and also two different size scribbles.

Thick Scribbles

Thin Scribbles

Layered

With all of these colors you could use them for lots of projects year round.  Click on any of the pictures to see them in my TpT store.

Five For Friday

Aloha Friday!! My favorite day of the week!  Thought I would write a quick post and share some fun activities from the week.

Our cute Thankful Turkeys bulletin board.

The art teacher came in and did a lesson on Gyutaku.  It is Japanese fish painting and they literally painted a fish and put their paper on top to print.  It was a bit gross for me, along with the smell, but the kids loved it!

These are a few of our Turkeys In Disguise that came back.  I thought they were all so fun and they were so eager to share and read about their disguises.

We have been receiving postcards from classrooms all across the country.  So far I think we have 35 postcards.  Each time we receive a card I read it and then we color in our map.  I have been displaying all the postcards on our window ledges around the room so the kids can read them anytime.

It was a gorgeous afternoon and my daughters and I hit the beach.  I had planned to surf, but it was a bit too windy and it was pretty flat.  My favorite surf spot has been taken over by the Triple Crown of Surfing.  The Hawaiian Reef Pro is the first competition and the beach was all set up with tents, bleachers, and the stage for all the happenings.  We decided to take advantage and have some fun.
It was a perfect way to end the week.

Hope you had a great Friday and have an even better weekend!

December Math Centers

Aloha friends!  Can you believe it is already November 20th!!??  It snuck up so quickly.  I was starting to sweat about my Thanksgiving dinner.  If you know me then you know that cooking is just not my thing!!

Seriously this is no joke.  I have a whole Pinterest board named Mmmm, but I have never once made anything.

I toyed around with the idea of just having a really fancy meal, like a surf and turf dinner instead of the traditional dinner.  My oldest daughter looked like she was going to cry when I told her we weren't going to have turkey.  She even told all her friends at school that "We weren't celebrating Thanksgiving".  Apparently she got lots of invites to friend's homes.

What a horrible mother I am.

Luckily my neighbor came over yesterday and invited us to her house for dinner.  She loves to cook, and when I say loves it's really L-O-V-E-S!  Whew! What a relief, all I have to bring is salad!  I'm pretty sure I can do that, and my daughter is happy again.

In all this craziness of the holidays I have finished some fun math centers for my second graders.

Don't you just love those graphics?!  The wonderful Nikki over at Melonheadz made them special for me!

I just had to get right to work and make something fun.  I asked my wonderful Facebook fans what types of skills they would like to see in this pack and I had the same replies.  Addition and subtraction with regrouping, time, fluency and place value.  So here are five different centers.

My students can just write on the cards or use these numbers to physically manipulate the numbers.

A poster with steps to regrouping is also included.

Again students can write on the card with a dry erase marker to do their work.

Then they can check their work by finding the matching answer cards.

I also created a poster to go along with it to remind them of the steps.

I included worksheets as well to help review.

I think my students are going to really enjoy these centers!  If you love these as much as I do you can click {HERE} to purchase them in my TpT shop.

Now I am off the finish my nice warm cup of Chai Tea and relax after a long day.  As always I am so happy you stopped by!
